Men’s skin is different to women’s skin – it is thicker and oilier, often prone to acne, irritation, razor bumps and ingrown hairs from shaving.  Men’s skin is 24% thicker than women’s skin, the blood flow is 50% more and the skin’s PH is more acidic.  Due to the daily effects of shaving, men’s skin is more fragile and the ageing process is faster than women.

Our founder realized that cosmetics made for men were just not available in India and that most of the cosmetics giants just re-label women’s products as pour homme (for men).  Thus, he went into further research and discovered that there were many companies around the world that make cosmetics especially for men’s skin.

MEN & BOYS is India’s first retail chain catering exclusively to men’s grooming needs.  We retail a wide range of men’s shaving products, regular and special cosmetics, skincare, hair care products, deodorants, colognes, fragrances and the world’s first range of cosmetics specially made for teenagers skin (can be used by teenage girls also).  We also offer service such as facials, shaves and bridegroom makeovers. The products are also available online for delivery to most places in India.

Our first retail store opened in May 2010. We will have 6 retail outlets – 2 exclusive stores and 4 SIS by May 2011, making us the world’s fastest growing retailer of men’s grooming products in our very first year of operations. Almost 15 new retail locations are under negotiation. We have a plan to have more than 40 retail outlets by 2013 and more than 100 by 2016.

Our handpicked products are from 11 highly acclaimed and award winning brands from USA, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Denmark, Argentina, Thailand and Switzerland.  Nine of the 11 brands do not make products for women.  Many of the products sold by us have won one or multiple men’s grooming awards from leading magazines such as Men’s health, Instinct, GQ and Esquire.

Established in 2010, MEN & BOYS is a division of Arus Retail, founded by Amit Bagaria of Asipac Group, which comprises India’s most admired mall development consultant and letting managers, a multiple award wining real estate marketing consultant, a highly respected retail research & consulting firm and India’s

newest mall management company.  Asipac has advised on retail / shopping centre projects of over 14 million square feet, including nine of the 25 largest malls in India, and has leased more than 6.8 million square feet of retail real estate across India in just four years.  Amit Bagaria or Asipac have been featured in 215+ media articles and 40+ TV features, including 16 front page/cover stories in leading publications.

The total men’s grooming market in India is expected to be worth US$5.9 billion by 2016, of which premium products are expected to contribute US$892 million.

Amit Bagaria’s family has been in the retail business in North-East India since 1938, when his grandfather DP Bagaria established KB Store in Tezpur, Assam, much before the “KB” of Indian retail, Kishore Biyani of Future group, was even born.  KB Store (named after DP’s father Kedarmall and his elder brother Badrinarayan) started as a small provision store and grew to become the region’s largest department store by 1949.  Till today, KB Store remains a landmark in Tezpur.  Between 1949 and 1979, the Bagaria family established more than 15 other retail ventures across the northeastern region of India and most of these are thriving local or regional retail businesses today.  Retail, therefore, runs in Amit Bagaria’s blood.
